Land Park / Roof Cleaning
Under Land Park's dense tree canopy, roofs stay shaded and damp and streak with moss and dark algae — hardest on the north-facing slopes of its older homes. Bailey Boys Services soft-washes roofs across Land Park to lift that growth safely, without the high pressure that cracks tile or strips shingle granules.
The mature canopy that makes Land Park so livable is hard on rooflines. Under the elms, oaks, and sycamores that shade the streets around William Land Park and toward neighboring Curtis Park, roofs stay damp long enough for moss to root in the shingle seams and for the dark streaks of Gloeocapsa algae to spread across north- and west-facing slopes. On the steep, storybook rooflines of Land Park's Tudor and cottage homes and the broad planes of its Craftsman bungalows, a constant drift of leaves and needles collects in valleys and behind chimneys, and a roof that is structurally sound can look a decade older and start trapping moisture where it does real harm.
The fix is soft washing, not blasting. High-pressure washing can crack tile and drive the protective granules right off composition shingles, so we use low-pressure application with the right treatment to kill the moss and algae at the root and let it rinse and weather away — safe for the composition shingle, wood-look, and tile roofs found across the neighborhood. On older homes we work carefully around aging flashing, skylights, and any solar, mindful that the materials underneath have been up there a long time. Roof cleaning pairs naturally with our gutter cleaning, since the debris we clear off the roof is the same debris that clogs the gutters below.
A clean roof is not just curb appeal in a neighborhood that prizes its historic character — it protects one of the most expensive parts of the house. Left alone, moss lifts shingle edges and holds water against the deck, and algae staining only spreads across the slope. Clearing it extends the roof's service life, helps preserve any manufacturer warranty, and restores the look of the whole home. We schedule around the busy Land Park households we serve, reach the neighborhood in about 25 minutes from Orangevale via US-50 and I-5, and always walk the property first to tell you honestly which staining will fully lift versus lighten before giving a free estimate.
Roof Cleaning looks simple, but doing it well — without damaging surfaces — takes the right equipment, pressure, and technique. Here is why Land Park homeowners and businesses call in the Bailey Boys team:
